25 Consumer Marketing Insights 2015 eBook
OneUpAgency is a marketing agency devoted to helping South African consumer brands achieve more sales and greater brand awareness. The agency recently launched an eBook to great fanfare: 25 Consumer Marketing Insights 2015. The eBook compiles the knowledge of South African industry experts on everything marketing related. Containing expert tips on social media, PR, digital, direct marketing, and more, the eBook will prove essential in 2015.
Dirk was featured in the eBook as one of South Africa’s authorities on social media. His insights include predictions on how Twitter will find new ways to earn revenue, such as through promotional tweets and possible algorithms that filter your timeline (similar to what Facebook’s doing already) in order to generate more ad revenue (pay to show your posts to more viewers even if they already follow). Dirk believes algorithms are of particular interest, noting that:
“Beating social media algorithms has become the new “SEO”- social media optimisation- as social channels compete against search engines for finding relevant content.”
Not just limited to eBooks
Dirk was also featured on BizzTakeouts’s podcast: The Marketing & Media Radio show. The podcast promoted the 25 Consumer Marketing Insights 2015 eBook, as well as highlighting some of it’s not to be missed features.
Dirk shared some wisdom on the future of social media platforms; noting that they are looking to close the sales cycle end to end (Facebook and Twitter so far):
“What they want to do is actually pitch products to you through ads in different formats, and then enable you to purchase straight from the news feed. You won’t have to actually click off to another website to purchase- they enable you to purchase straight off the platform. It’s a very good way to generate revenue.”
Dirk also offered some advice to those just starting out in the industry- namely not to start by trying to build a website with all the bells and whistles right off the bat, but rather a professional looking minimum viable product first, with some marketing push. He also cautioned against trying to do online advertising yourself if you are unsure of how it works. It’s better having an expert assist you (even if just initially) to ensure that you get the most bang for buck in terms of conversion.
